Brazil raises rates to 10.5%
The Brazilian economy issued data for the final month of 2013. On the one hand, the CPI increased to 5.91%, much higher than the expectations and greater then Mr. Alexandre Tombini’s estimate of 5.81%.
This was a 50 basis point interest rate rise, now exceeding the 10% level.
Despite the clear inflation, data showed that the Brazilian economy contracted in 2013.
