India moves slightly to the Right
India has elected Narendra Modi and moved slightly to the right. After a five week vote and a year and nine months of campaigning are finally over. Names such as Ghandi, a multi generational Indian family was defeated along with a resounding loss for Congress in Parliament.
Consequently, the mother of the Presidential candidate, was re-elected to her prior position as leader of the CPP.
Narendra Modi has achieved a 282 seat majority in parliament and will be able to carry a mandate that will last for a few years.
The Right leaning leader has for himself a tall order. History of the Modi Era began this week.

The son of Tea merchants in India, who served tea at town meetings and throughout the voting period have created a leader with a real mandate. Tea-roots, as opposed to grass roots.
The BJP party is a conservative, somewhat right leaning party. India’s Parliamentary system keeps minority votes in place on some issues. However, BJP, won a seat victory of 282.
The message from the Pakistan Prime Minister was received in India. The question now is will he attend the inauguration ceremony in India.
The platform of BJP will focus on development, improved relations with China and alternative energy development. Wind farms stationed 12 miles off of the coast will get funding and further development into the Solar market are clear from Narendra Modi. Modi is considered to be the first “literate” renewable energy President of India.
In other election results, Shashi Tharoor also was elected in a region on a close final tally of the vote. Minister Tharoor’s diplomatic experience helped catapult him over the edge.
